Worth The Wait...

It'll happen. You'll meet the right guy. Whatever's meant to be will happen. I had heard these lines a gazillion times. I even said them to myself. And although deep down inside, I truly believed it, I still wondered at times if I was kidding myself.

I got married this past summer. I'm thirty-something right now. Before I met my husband, I'll have to say that I was happy with my life, but still, like most people, I wanted to find the guy I was meant to be with. I had tried it all. My family and friends had tried to set me up. Oh, how I just loved those blind dates. I went to social functions, networking events, speed dating (now that was torture). I had online profiles setup on just about every dating site out there . Heck I was so desperate once, I tried creating my own dating website just to see if I could meet someone. Well, ok, that wasn't the goal for my site, but it would've been a nice perk. I cannot count the number of guys I actually met or talked to in person or in cyberspace. Sure there were some really nice guys out there and then there were some that if given the choice, I would rather have spent that time listening to nails on a chalkboard.

The person I ended up marrying, I didn't meet at any of these places. I met him at work. The amazing thing is that I worked at this place for about 6 months and then was let go. In my heart I believe I got that job for one reason alone. To find him.

Looking back at all the experiences, I can say that it really taught me a lot of who I wanted to be with and who I didn't want to be with. If I hadn't met a lot of those guys, I don't think I would've truly appreciated the person I'm with now. He isn't someone I thought I would be with due to my own closed mindedness. But I heard something once that makes so much sense now. The reason we cannot find the Right guy is that we keep looking for the same Wrong guy. I'm very lucky my husband came into my life. He is everything that I could ever ask for and definitely worth the wait. For all those fairy tale stories you hear about, I'm living proof that it does exist. I found my prince and he is as charming as can be.

The Joys of Aunt-Hood

There are joys of motherhood and joys of fatherhood. There are so many joys that kids bring into this world. What I know best are the Joys of AuntHood. And oh how much joy there is.

I don't have kids of my own, but I feel like I do. I have so many nieces and nephews, ranging from 6 months old to teenagers. And each and every one of them have at one time in my life made me think, "WOW, how lucky am I to be their Aunt". Being an aunt to me is one of the best things about my life. Its the best job there is. I get to play with my kiddies whenever I want. I can take them out to the movies, buy them a happy meal, take them to the park and watch them run all over the place. I can be in the pool with them while they jump in and splash me with their giggles. I can feed their faces with mac and cheese, or read them their favorite bedtime stories. I even change their diapers if necessary. I call it bonding time. All this, and I still get to go home and have a good night's rest without being woken up by a crying little one. How sweet is that?

Any given day that I visit them, the kids will run up to me as if they haven't seen me in years. In their world, one week probably seems like one year. They love me with no strings attached. And thats the best part. So innocent and so amazingly beautiful. They have no idea, the smile that I bring to their faces is no match to the smile they bring to my heart.

Pass the chutney please

Have you ever cooked for someone, slaved for hours and hours in the kitchen, put your heart and soul into making something special, only to have the person you cooked for, add in their own concoction and then it totally not taste what you meant for them to taste? Aaarrrggghhh, that would be so annoying.

Here's the thing though - I'm the number one guilty party of doing this myself.

I got to a restaurant or someone's house and no matter what I'm about to eat, as soon as it comes to the table, I reach for the peppers or chutney or salt or any other spice in reach. I just know before I even try it that I will need to add my own flavors. I grew up eating spicy food with lots and lots of flavor. If I eat spaghetti, there is NO way I'm eating it the way its meant to be eaten. That would be too bland and without atleast some spice, what's the point? Pass me the peppers, the tabasco, the chutney. Anything you can find. Please.

This never bothered me until it happened to me when I cooked for someone and they didn't even try the dish before they topped it off with their own crap. I could surely understand even though I didn't like it. And it doesn't change the way I do things either, but atleast I do think about it...for a second, before I say "Pass the chutney please?

What I do on my day job versus what I'd rather be doing

Am I the only person out there who is sitting at his/her desk at work right now wondering "there's got to be more to life than this".

I decided to share with everyone, or whoever actually stumbles upon this blog site, some random thoughts that enter my tiny little brain. I realize I am very fortunate to have a job in these times. But what I do from 9-5 everyday does not fulfill my desires, does not keep me pumped up during the day, and it certainly does not give me something to look forward to every night. I know, I know. "Stop your whining and do something about it then". I've heard that more than enough. I say it to myself all the time.

Over the years, I have actually tried my hand at various things, but they didn't exactly work out as planned. So here I am, back at my desk. Because at the end of the day, I still had bills to pay.

Ofcourse I'd rather be doing something else, like mixing some music on my DJ Mixer prepping for a big event. Now that would be cool. I almost became a music DJ once. Well, "almost became" is a bit overstated. Let's see, I bought a DJ Mixer, popped in some CDs and started to play around with different beats and sounds and entertained only myself. My friends even gave me a name for my new career. DJ Clueless. Cause I had no idea what I was doing. So after a couple of weeks of playing around, I decided maybe it wasn't for me. I really wanted to become a DJ and so many other things that didn't pan out. Problem is, I think more than I actually do. But thats ok, like they say, a girl can dream. And I will keep dreaming and wondering.
